Who is responsible for your data

What I collect and why

I only collect what I need. Here is each purpose, the data involved and the legal basis under the GDPR.

Booking a call (Cal.com)

Data: your name, email address, the time you pick, your time zone and anything you choose to write in the booking form.
Purpose: to schedule our video call, send you the invite and reminders, and prepare for the call.
Legal basis: steps taken at your request before entering into a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
Retention: 12 months after the call if we do not start working together. If we do, for as long as we work together and then as required by law.

Emails and messages

Data: your name, email address or social media handle, and what you write to me.
Purpose: to reply to you and keep track of our conversation.
Legal basis: steps before a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR), or my legitimate interest in answering messages sent to me (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Retention: 24 months after our last contact, unless we start working together.

Hosting and security

Data: IP address, browser details, the page requested and the time of the request.
Purpose: to deliver this website and protect it from abuse.
Legal basis: my legitimate interest in running a secure website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Retention: as set by Cloudflare for security logs, typically a few days.

If we work together

Contract, billing and invoicing details are processed to perform our contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and to meet my legal obligations (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR). Hungarian accounting law requires me to keep invoices for 8 years.

Cookies

I don’t use analytics or advertising cookies on this website right now. If I add analytics later, it will only run after you accept it, and I will list the cookies here.

Who processes data for me

I use a small number of service providers (processors). Each one processes data only on my behalf and under a data processing agreement.

Cloudflare, Inc.: Hosting, content delivery and security. 101 Townsend St., San Francisco, CA 94107, USA.
Cal.com, Inc.: Booking and scheduling the video call.

Transfers outside the EU

Some of these providers are based in the United States. Transfers to US companies certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework rely on the European Commission adequacy decision of 10 July 2023. Where a provider is not certified, the transfer relies on the European Commission Standard Contractual Clauses.

Your rights

You have the right to:

access the personal data I hold about you (Art. 15 GDPR)
have it corrected (Art. 16)
have it deleted (Art. 17)
restrict how it is used (Art. 18)
receive it in a portable format (Art. 20)
object to processing based on legitimate interest (Art. 21)
withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting earlier processing (Art. 7(3))

I do not use your data for automated decision-making or profiling.

Your right to complain

If you think I have handled your data unlawfully, you can complain to the Hungarian data protection authority, or to the authority where you live or work:
